Ignite Social Media Hires Gene Smith as Senior Technologist

(CARY, NC—October 25, 2007) — Jim Tobin, president of Ignite Social Media, announced today the hiring of Gene Smith as Senior Technologist. Gene joined Ignite, the first social media agency in North Carolina, in mid-October.

“Gene’s technical expertise is an important addition to our team,” said Tobin. “As Ignite grows, Gene’s passion and understanding of social media technologies will allow us to provide customized, well-implemented social media applications for our clients.”

Gene brings over ten years in online communications experience and technology development to his role. As the former Web Services Manager for the Service Employees International Union, Gene has designed and implemented content management systems, managed databases and operating programs, employed site analytics, and created custom applications. He has particular expertise in driving offline behavior through online tools. As Senior Technologist for Ignite, Gene will design and implement social media tactics that enable companies to reach customers and build brand advocates.

Gene earned his Master’s of Arts degree at Howard University and his undergraduate degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas.
