Hong Kong, China, – Internationally recognized watercolor artist, David B. Goldstein, launches his newest impressions of his journeys throughout Asia, which infuses Eastern subject matter with a Western style, at a World Premiere Solo Exhibition titled “Beaches, Boats, Waves and Water, Impressions of Asia through Western Eyes” at The Fringe Club’s Economist Gallery from November 6-13, 2007.From the outer islands of Hong Kong, the beaches of Thailand, the stilt villages of Malaysia, and the harbors of Sydney, the exhibition displays major coastal towns and harbor cities throughout Asia, highlighting his passion to explore how our surroundings and nature can be merged through the medium of watercolor. “I'm particularly fascinated by water and how it reflects color and light. I love to discover connections and blend objects going beyond their natural outlines to form larger shapes,” says David. “I strive to show the beauty of the world that I see and ‘how things could be’ with some enhancement.”
David, whose work is admired for its subject matter which evokes a feeling of escape and adventure, has traveled the world to soak up the scenery and sensations of the most stunning places. The renowned artist comments that “art should be accessible and something you want to hang on your wall because it reminds you of your favorite experiences.”
David’s style has been described as “representational” with a “controlled spontaneity”. His compelling images register as emotional and geographic reference points in the minds and hearts of viewers. His key influences are Winslow Homer and J.M.W. Turner.
