The football manager, club owner Alexandre Gaydamak, Chief Executive Peter Storrie and Directors Roberto Avondo and Bruce Vandenberg all plan to run the 10-mile course. But Harry, a Patron of RTCW, admits he’s pretty daunted at the challenge ahead. He said: “I haven’t had a chance to train properly – I have this mad idea I can just turn up on the day and do it.
“I’ve joked that it’ll be a miracle if I get round but I’m determined to finish because this Charity means so much to me. I’ve met some of the kids who have had their Wishes granted and to see the enjoyment they get from it is wonderful.
“Round Table Children’s Wish is a fantastic charity and the staff at Portsmouth FC jumped at the chance to support it in the Great South Run.”
Financial Director Tanya Robins, Commercial and Marketing Director Paul Bell, Communications Director Gary Double and Kit Manager Kev McCormack are also taking part in the event for RTCW, along with 12 other staff and guests of the club.
Many have been training hard for the past few months in preparation for the run in Portsmouth on Sunday October 28th.
Julie Atherton, Fundraising Co-ordinator at Bournemouth-based Round Table Children’s Wish, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the support from Portsmouth FC – running 10miles is no mean feat.
“Harry has been a patron of the charity for several years – he’s always looking for ways to help raise funds. The Club’s efforts will help us to grant Wishes for many children with life - threatening illnesses.
“At this time of year many of the children’s wishes are to go to Lapland to visit Santa so to have such a large team representing our charity is an absolute bonus. We wish all 60 runners luck on the day and hope people are generous in their sponsorship to help cover these very special Christmas wishes.”
