HowsMyNanny.com Celebrates 1st Anniversary as Nanny Reporting Site Provides Feedback to Parents

October 20, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
New York, New York - October 20, 2007 — Currently a member-based service, HowsMyNanny.com provides a mini license plate to attach to your child’s stroller so that passersby who observe your nanny’s conduct (good or bad) can send an email to your personal account. Launched October 2006, the site has grown significantly, and now has members in 7 states and a London based affiliate program with more members joining each month.

Jill Starishevsky, a prosecutor of child abuse and sex crimes in New York City and founder of HowsMyNanny.com, said “We created HowsMyNanny.com because today’s busy parents want to know how their children are being treated. The site is designed to enable members to immediately discover if their nanny is doing something praiseworthy or behaving in a negligent manner. It’s gratifying to see our vision has been validated by our diverse membership countrywide, and that membership momentum is growing.”

Sandhya Subramanyan of Chicago was among the first to sign up for the service. “It's something new,” she said. “It's something to do with the safety of my child, which is of course number one.” Cheap security is how Subramanyan sees it. The service costs $50 a year. “Would I worry constantly without it? No. Am I happy to have it there? Yes,” she said.

Furthermore, HowsMyNanny.com reports that the response from nannies has been extremely positive. Diligent nannies like the feedback their employers can receive. Veteran nanny, Jenny Okasinski, supports the service. “Just so you know how your children are being taken care of, because a lot of times families don't know,” Okasinski stated.

HowsMyNanny.com has been hailed an “honest solution to a tough problem” by Robin Raskin, technology consultant for Yahoo Tech. “…the program has the makings of one of the fairest solutions I've heard on how to get some feedback on the quality of your childcare while you're gone.”

Membership Represents Cross-Section of America
HowsMyNanny.com’s members are diverse, but what they have in common, Starishevsky noted, is the desire to know that their children are being well cared for.”

The site has drawn national acclaim as parents appreciate that they don’t have to go searching for reports on a message board that is open to prying eyes. While the site allows reporters to remain anonymous to the members receiving the report (the site manager retains their information), the majority of reports received thus far have included the reporters’ name and contact information so that the parent member can follow up.

The majority of HowsMyNanny.com members live in big cities across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Vancouver, followed by suburban areas.

Future Plans
HowsMyNanny.com is now seeking cooperative marketing partnerships as well as advertisers trying to reach the parenting market, and has already generated interest for co-marketing campaigns with various nanny agencies and stroller companies.

As we celebrate our one-year anniversary, we are happy to share the good news – the service is working! Parents are receiving the reports and children are receiving the benefits. Through media coverage from Good Morning America, Fox News National, and Donny Deutsch’s “The Big Idea”, we have been able to spread the word about HowsMyNanny.com faster than we had anticipated. We look forward to another year of keeping children safe and opening up the lines of communication between parents and caregivers across the country. Whether by registering as a member or becoming a reporter of praiseworthy or negligent nanny behavior, we hope you join in our effort.
