October 20, 2007 (Phoenix, AZ): Top Dog Eileen Proctor’s life has gone to the dogs… yet again! And she couldn’t be happier.Never one to “follow the pack”, Proctor —- formerly owner of It’s A Ruff Life! Dog Daycare and currently of Top Dog Business Boosters —- was dogmatic about establishing non-traditional distribution channels for her hot-off-the-presses, self-published book, “Top Dog’s Top Tips for Tip Top Dog Care: What Your Best Friend Wants You To Know”. And doggone if she hasn’t done just that! In addition to being leveraged as a fundraising opportunity for a number of Valley-based not-for-profit organizations, the book has been picked up for distribution by local pet-friendly hotel Best Western – Tempe By The Mall. Proctor considers this as a test market in anticipation of ultimately expanding penetration through Best Western’s 1,900 pet-friendly locations nationwide.
“It makes perfect sense”, she explains. “Every hotel room provides its guests with a bible… my book serves as sort of a “dog bible” for those that bring their pets along on vacations, or conversely, for those that miss their pets because they’ve left their furry family members home”.
By placing a copy of Proctor’s in each of her 50 pet-friendly rooms, Best Western – Tempe By The Mall Director of Sales & Marketing, P.K. Gunn-Mesler hopes to position her property as one that doesn’t merely accept dogs, but rather, welcomes them… and as one that understands the important role they play in people’s lives. The book can be enjoyed at no charge during the guest’s stay, and a fresh copy can be purchased for the full retail price of $15.
Proctor’s book is a collection of fun and informative “quick reads” on various aspects of dog care, health/safety, and activities. It also includes tips on how to find one’s ideal K9 Kid, as well as how to deal with the loss of a canine companion. Proctor is donating a portion of all sales, regardless of distribution point, to animal welfare and rescue organizations to help them continue their life-saving work.
