Acuity Takes the Lead in British Land Move

Staffordshire-based Acuity Management Solutions has spearheaded a move into striking new premises for FTSE 100 property company, British Land plc. British Land called in Acuity after it decided to relocate from a listed building in London’s Cornwall Terrace to modern, purpose built offices near Marble Arch in the heart of the capital, under a £127 million new build project.

The company had outgrown its former headquarters and needed a new high quality flagship building.

A steering group was set up to direct and oversee the project, chaired by Acuity Director, Chris Dumas.

Acuity, which has its headquarters at the Innovation Centre in Keele, took charge of the design, procurement and fit out of the new office, as well as the physical move.

British Land employs 250 people at the new headquarters, which occupies three floors of York House, a five storey, 137,000 square feet development, built by British Land itself and overlooking Hyde Park.
The fit out of the property has been guided by British Land’s Sustainability Brief for Developments. Nearly £500,000 has been invested in corporate responsibility measures, including using only Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified timber, installing cycle racks, showers, energy metering and water mains metering.
Mr Dumas said: “We were delighted to manage the delivery of British Land’s new office. Our involvement in all aspects of the project has been both challenging and satisfying in helping to create an office which provides the environment, technology, flexibility and quality of accommodation in support of British Land’s continued success.

Since its launch in 1999, Acuity has carved out a niche as an expert in the delivery of projects and managing facilities. As well as Keele, the company has offices in London and Cardiff.
