JCCSN Jewish Cultural Events: a Big Hit in Las Vegas

What seems to be in demand in Las Vegas today? Apparently, Jewish art, culture, music, film, and social events are. The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada is making its mark on the Southern Nevada event scene. JCCSN recently had to stop taking reservations for a sell-out literary event featuring renowned author Mitch Albom, scheduled for October 14, 2007 at the Canyon Gate Country Club because they were at full capacity for their “One Morning With Mitch” event. With cultural programming in high demand, JCCSN announced its next exciting event: “Gateway to the Stars”, a fundraising entertainment and cultural arts extravaganza, October 21, 2007, 7:00 PM at the world famous Venetian Hotel-Resort-Casino. Couvert is $118.00 per person.

“Gateway to the Stars” will be an extraordinary evening of entertainment, music, mime, surprises and art. Glatt kosher hors d’oeuvres, decadent desserts, wines and spirits will satisfy the gourmet palate, while featured original art and live performance art will satisfy the visual palette. Some of the events scheduled for the evening guest entertainment are a UNLV Drama Department performance from Fiddler on the Roof; surprise selections by Carly Matt; musical selections by the Sin City Seven from our own city of Las Vegas; E-Joy Strings; dance selections by the Nevada Ballet Theater; a special one day showing of the inspiring exhibition “From Haven to Home: 350 Years of Jewish Life in America”; several original local artist showings; a live and silent auction.

Local Las Vegas artists have contributed their talent and time to helping the Jewish Community Center raise funds for “Gateway to the Stars”. The event will highlight work from Rick Dubio, Lolla Mellea, Perry Fager, Deborah Arin and Garald Todd, and Denise Wilbourne, to name but a few.
