PITTSBURGH, PA - It takes a special kind of person to teach and work with children with diverse disabilities. Michael Bisceglia would like to tell you about it and SterlingHouse Publisher is going to help.SterlingHouse Publisher and Michael Bisceglia have just reached an agreement to publish Bisceglia's latest novel, Keep Thursdays Open. Keep Thursdays Open is a story about a man who decides to enter the difficult and arduous world of teaching children with special needs. He is doing this all while under intense scrutiny from the administration and while trying to build relationships of his own. While the story is a work of fiction, there are definitely ties to Mr. Bisceglia's real life endeavors.
Mr. Bisceglia is a retired teacher who taught English for much of his professional career. However, nearly a decade ago, Mr. Bisceglia made a career change, much like his main character, to teach students with diverse disabilities. This change of course gave Mr. Bisceglia an interesting insight and perspective to teaching and the world of individuals with diverse disabilities. "Although the number of children with diverse disabilities is significant, very few teachers choose this (special education) as a teaching field," says Mr. Bisceglia. In fact, after he made the choice to become a special education teacher, he realized that he and his colleagues were more than caretakers, instead they were "teachers of children with mental and physical disabilities." Mr. Bisceglia is now retired and he lives in Hampton, NH where he is a full time writer, writing not only novels, but historic feature articles for the local news media.
The signing of the contract with Mr. Bisceglia has given everyone at SterlingHouse Publisher a palpable excitement. Cynthia Sterling, CEO of SterlingHouse publisher said about Mr. Bisceglia, "We are extremely excited to be working with Mr. Bisceglia. We admire him for his tireless dedication to such a difficult field." Keep a look out for Keep Thursdays Open in a bookstore near you!
