(SAVANNAH, GA) Local Chef Matt Cohen is helping to Feed the Future

(Savannah, GA) Chef Matt Cohen, owner of The New South Café, is proud to participate in the 2007 Second Harvest Chef’s Table, to be held on October 9th. This annual premier event which began in 1992, benefits the Kids Cafe program, providing hot meals to in-need children in after school programs throughout the Coastal Empire.

“It is an honor to help feed underprivileged kids in our area,” stated Chef Matt. “Chef’s Table is the leading fundraiser for childhood hunger in Savannah.”

According to the America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia (ASHCG) website, research shows that preschool and school-age children who experience severe hunger have higher levels of chronic illness, anxiety, depression, and behavior problems than children who do not experience hunger. ASHCG is committed to ending childhood hunger in the community with an increase in meals served at Kids Cafes from 140,401 in 2006 to 178,830 in 2007.
Chef’s Table, hosted by the ASHCG, is a charitable event which celebrates the finest food in the area. Local chefs, including Chef Matt, donate their time and talents in making the evening a culinary delight.
