My Privacy Tools, Inc., a publisher of many privacy software titles has released a major update of its anonymous web browsing software called Hide My IP today.IP, or Internet Protocol, refers to the unique number attached to every computer—sort of like an address used to locate a home. Advertisers, spammers, hackers, identity thieves, and government agencies routinely collect and use IP addresses to find names, street addresses, and other personal information. By using privacy software like Hide My IP, users can prevent their IP address getting out in the open, thereby protecting their computer and maintaining their privacy.
Hide My IP (edition 2007) allows users to surf anonymously by installing a proxy IP address between their computer and the Internet. Users can then appear to be from various locations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. Users can also conceal their IP address is dozens of other programs such as instant messengers, E-mail clients, gambling software, games and other Internet-based software.
