NEW YORK, NY - The Perspectives Project, part of SocialMaturity.com, is an outreach program designed to enable those of boomer age and beyond to preserve their stories online for younger generations. The Perspectives Project encourages seniors to post videos that are informative about life in the early to mid 20th century.

"Our goal is to pass along anecdotes that will paint a vivid picture of what life was like before the internet, cell phones, GPS, and credit cards," says Dr. Laurence Barsh, founder and president of SocialMaturity.com. The Project hopes to attract contributors to address subjects like the Holocaust, World War II, and the Depression, as well as less-serious topics such as Woodstock, the tradition of "watching" the radio, secret decoder rings, and the long-forgotten service of twice-daily mail delivery.

Unlike FaceBook, MySpace and YouTube, videos of television shows, commercials, dogs on skateboards, and mattress fights will not be included. While the subject matter of the videos will vary from tragic to humorous, the presentation will be that of a parent or grandparent telling a story to their child or grandchild - a story that will add perspective to understanding life in the 21st century.

The idea for The Perspectives Project came from colleges and universities that invite professors to give a "Last Lecture" in which they present a hypothetical final talk. Says Barsh, "I felt the need to initiate this project because there are so many untold stories that might soon be lost. My goal is to preserve them and use them as a tool to show younger generations where we are coming from and what has shaped our lives, so that they may gain from our experience."

The project is open to all seniors who care to participate whether or not they are members of www.SocialMaturity.com. For more information, go to www.socialmaturity.com/seniorculture.cfm. SocialMaturity.com uses the Brightcove(TM) platform for video uploads and presentation. Videos will be screened for appropriateness before being placed online.

SocialMaturity.com is a free social networking website designed for those of the baby boomer generation and older. It was founded in June 2007 by Dr. Laurence Barsh, who also runs the website design company www.adlibdesign.com.
