Rene Reid has served as a Catholic nun and an elected public official. She was also a former TV and radio talk show host. Reid also founded and serves on the local board of Restart, a program committed to assisting the homeless in Northern Nevada. Her commitment to the community even crossed over into politics when, in 1988, she was elected County Commissioner. Reid has one son, Chris Grove, who also lives in Reno and works at the University of Nevada.
