Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard is jazzing up its events calendar with a regular traditional jazz slot in association with local musician Bob Ludlam. The regular jazz session will take place on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm every fortnight, commencing 11 October. Bob, formerly a regular performer at Aitch's jazz nights in Bakewell will be joined by James Ludlam and The Walker Brothers, for what The Maynard hopes will become a permanent fixture in the events diary.Paul Downing, director at The Maynard, said: “Traditional jazz is a tried and tested formula and we have the perfect location and facilities to take advantage of it. There is still nothing quite like trad. jazz for creating the right atmosphere and ambience in a hotel or restaurant. I have seen Bob Ludlam and his band performs many times and can guarantee that jazz fans will not be disappointed. Assuming that the jazz slot is as successful as we are hoping, we will look to make it a regular weekly event and even consider extending it to other times during the week at a later date.”
“Our events programme is already creating a great deal of interest and we have several celebrities lined up over the coming months including The Hamiltons and Bill Beaumont. We’re trying to create a destination venue where people will always have a reason to visit The Maynard – making it not just somewhere to come for a good meal out or an overnight stay in the hotel. Personally, I’m particularly looking forward to the hypnotiosm evening on 24 November!
Jazz at The Maynard is provided free of charge for restaurant diners. Advanced booking recommended. For restaurant reservations, telephone 01433 630321 or e-mail restaurant@themaynard.co.uk
