North, South, and Central Georgia – Saturday, September 26, 2007 – Peachtree Pest Control has always been active in the training of its personnel. With the hiring of Ray Hess, their Retail and Safety Director, this has taken a more direct and personal approach. In the past training was usually done either by managers or by trainers outside the company, now it can be done internally.Recently he did a series of training sessions on a topic that actually was on the front page of the local newspaper. It said that Brown Widow Spiders were becoming a major concern in Georgia due to their fondness for anything manmade, such as their structures and kids outside playthings, and also the potency of their venom. The fact that they tended to favor our surroundings prompted him to do an emergency safety briefing at the branch where that paper came out and later at the monthly company meetings in North and South Georgia. He trained on how to inspect, identify, treat, differences between Brown and Black Widows, and the safety aspects for the technicians and termite workers. He also trained the admin and sales personnel so they could answer customer’s questions that were sure to come because of the newspaper article. He reviewed the numerous chemicals on The Pest Control Store’s website www.thepestcontrolstore.com , and also the branch’s stock that could be used and how. He also had handouts that showed the various colors of the spider and especially their egg sacs, which are spiked making them easier to identify. A question and answer period finished the training sessions. Continuous training helps Peachtree Pest Control better serve their customers needs just as it has for over 30 years.
