Senior Social Networking Site Sets Itself Apart with Unique Business Model and Personal Touch

Most social networking sites are aimed at members whose ages range from the teens to the thirties. The few sites designed specifically for seniors are being developed by large, corporate entities and are structured just like the ones aimed at the young demos, with contributors who are often in their 30s and 40s.

In response to the need for a personally administered social networking site developed by and for mature individuals, Dr. Laurence Barsh announces SocialMaturity.com. SocialMaturity.com is small and flexible enough to be able to meet the needs of its members. Membership is free. Google advertising supports the site.

SocialMaturity.com is unique in that it doesn’t answer to Wall Street or some venture capital guys; rather is owned and maintained by Dr. Barsh, a 71 year old retired dentist and self-described techno-geek, in the second bedroom of a New York City apartment.

While SocialMaturity.com offers the usual dating possibilities, it also aims to capture those who are also in committed relationships by offering a discussion forum, articles by experts in their respective fields and a blog. Recent additions to the site include “Perspectives” – a place where mature individuals with stories to tell can post videos, “Share” – an area where boomers and beyond can share their life experiences on a wide array of topics and an outreach program to help seniors resolve consumer problems, and even Medicare.

“SocialMaturity.com is new to the online social networking scene and we still have a long way to go” said Dr. Laurence Barsh who can be found most mornings reviewing news feeds, Google alerts, Cynopsis, Media Post and other online news sources. “I think it’s important that our website provide the most up-to-date information available” Dr. Barsh continued, “And because we are still in the early stages of development, unlike other social networking sites, we are extremely responsive to the needs of our membership. We encourage feedback and will do everything possible to incorporate all suggestions to fashion the site in the manner that our membership wants.”

SocialMaturity.com was founded in 2007 to provide a meeting place online for boomers and beyond. The site was developed, is owned and maintained by solely Dr. Laurence Barsh.
