September 25, 2007: BRANSON, Mo. — Hansen’s Tree Service has recently partnered with The City of Branson Recycle Center to provide green waste recycling. At the center, The City of Branson and its residents can continue to drop off brush, leaves and limbs, which Hansen’s will turn into professional grade mulch and compost that can then be purchased by the public. Hansen’s has set up a yard waste facility on city property at the Cooper Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Fall Creek Road where the City and its residents can drop off green waste. Currently, Hansen’s has compost and some mulch available, and will offer a full line of natural and dyed organic mulch starting this spring.
“Hansen’s recycles 100% of our green waste, turning it into 100% organic mulch and firewood. We look forward to working with The City of Branson and its residents to recycle green waste and protect our environment,” Jeff Hansen, President of Hansen’s Tree Service, said.
There will be a charge of $5/yard for all City of Branson residents, $8.50/yard for commercial entities and $10/yard for all non-City of Branson residents. An average pickup holds about two yards, but there will be a minimum charge of $3 for anything less than one full yard. Site hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – noon. All bagged leaves must be in brown paper or compostable bags which are available in lawn and garden stores. Anyone delivering leaves in plastic garbage bags will need to empty the bags on the brush pile prior to leaving the site and take the bags with them. More information is available at the Recycle Center.
Hansen’s has experience working with local government, collecting green waste for the cities of O'Fallon and Wentzville and other municipalities, in addition to local businesses and residences.
“The volume of yard waste brought into the Recycle Center has become overwhelming. We long ago outgrew our small hand-fed chipper. And the cost of stockpiling the brush at a City site and bringing in a contractor to grind it was astronomical. We believe this will be an excellent solution for handling yard waste in an environmentally-responsible and economically-feasible manner,” said Debbie Redford, an Environmental Specialist for the City of Branson.
