âWe are thrilled to be partnering with Warner Brothers to honor the memory of the Marshall tragedy and help to tell this inspiring story,â said Bleacher Report founder Dave Nemetz. âIn a time when the sports headlines are filled with negativity and controversy, we hope that this feature will put the emphasis back on the positive experiences that collectively define us all as sports fans.â
The campaign has been live since September 17, and has so far received contributions from over 30 writers. Stories submitted to date chronicle such classic moments as the âMiracle on Iceâ and Curt Schillingâs bloody sock, as well as more personal experiences from high school and college athletics.

The film âWe Are Marshallâ recounts the inspiring true story of the 1971 Marshall University football team. After a plane crash that killed 75 players, coaches, and school staff at the end of the 1970 season, the Thundering Herd recovered to field a competitive team and help the Marshall community heal in the wake of the tragedy.
Released in theaters last December, the film stars Matthew McConaughey as Marshall head coach Jack Lengyel.
