Domestic Violence: Making a Difference
September 21, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Since its inception in 2004, Vintage Romance Publishing, LLC, a publisher of historical romances, non-fiction, inspirational fiction and non-fiction, and young adult books, has been a supporter of a local domestic abuse shelter, My Sister’s House, in Charleston, South Carolina. Vintage donates a portion of its proceeds from the sales of its books each quarter. But October 1, 2007, the company is stepping up its commitment, undertaking a campaign which includes its authors and other local area businesses that will, in the future, enable the publishing company’s support to broaden. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Vintage Romance Publishing and its authors will purchase domestic violence wristbands to sell at various writers’ conferences across the nation. ALL proceeds from these sales will go to support My Sister’s House for the entire month of October 2007. Vintage intends to commit to the sale of these wristbands every quarter to benefit domestic shelters across the nation.
Calling upon local poet, Michelle Ruopoli, Vintage has created cards which offer a hotline for victims of domestic abuse along with encouragement and hope. These cards will be available free of charge at conferences and to shelters upon request.
