Burlington, VT — The Argentine Tango Society presents their esteemed production of I Tango on the Flynn MainStage Friday, October 12th at 8:00 pm. Following the performance will be a traditional Milonga Party where attendees have the opportunity to dance the tango on the Flynn stage and mingle with the dancers and musicians of the I Tango show.

The tango is a dance of love that ignites the spirit of Argentina on the stage and shares the Argentine culture with the world. I Tango combines the live music and vocal performances of the Color Tango Orchestra with evocative dance through a personal exploration each of the 14 dancers has with the sensual, passionate, and melancholy art form known and loved throughout the world as the tango.

World renowned artistic director, Alicia Cruzado, captures the essence of the tango and its origins in this uncompromising performance. “I am passionate about the tango as an art form and cultivate that passion in the dancers as they speak their own mysterious body language through my sometimes cutting edge interpretation,” exclaims Cruzado – who often teaches tango classes in and around the Northeast including Burlington’s Salsalina Studio on Pine Street. Cruzado adds, “the tango transforms the entire body into a musical instrument through choreography, beauty, and passion.”

Internationally acclaimed maestro, Roberto Alvarez, directs the Color Tango Orchestra, which was formed in 1989 and parallels the style of the 1920’s expressive tango movement. Alvarez incorporates classical composers such as Pugliese and Piazzolla into more modern repertoire creating expressive maturity while conserving the aesthetical origins of tango. Color Tango, comprised of bandoneon, violin, viola, bass, keyboard, piano, and soloist, is the ultimate dance partner in the beautiful instrumentation of the tango.

The Argentine Tango Society is responsible for introducing some of the greatest international tango dancers and musicians to the United States and has already made its way into the hearts of Vermonters at the Stowe Tangofest. The Argentine Tango Society and artists of the I Tango show invite Vermonters and Vermont visitors to share in their first experience on the Flynn Mainstage on Friday, October 12th.
