Celebrity appraisal panel set for Atlantique City

If you bring it, they will price it! The Atlantique City show is hosting at least eight guest and celebrity appraisers for a show that is bigger and better than ever before. The theme of the fall edition Oct. 22-23 is Atlantique City :: Always in Style, which features a vintage fashion exhibit and runway show. However, items in any category are welcome in the appraisal area.

A roving emcee, live audience and videotaping of featured items will guarantee this year’s appraisal booth will be a special event. Appraisals will be offered by specialists in fine jewelry, textiles, glass, autographs, books, maps and more.

Marking his 36th year with Antique Trader as editor, author and antique expert, Kyle Husfloen of Palm Springs, Calif., has returned to appraise at Atlantique City. Husfloen is author of the regular column, Kyle on Antiques, and has served as a guest appraiser and lecturer on antiques across the nation.
With a decided specialty in mint condition baseball cards and toy robots from the 1950s and ’60s still in their original boxes, Alan Rosen, known on television, in newspapers and across the industry as Mr. Mint, will be appraising at Atlantique City on both Saturday and Sunday. Alan will lend his expertise and his personality to what is already a stellar event.

Specializing in pop culture, animation, textiles and celebrity memorabilia will be appraiser Caroline Ashleigh of Birmingham, Mich. Ashleigh has regularly appeared on Antiques Roadshow since 1996, and is a senior certified member of the Appraisers Association of America.

Carolyn Remmey of Remmey Antiques and Fine Art in New Vernon, N.J., will once again lend her expertise in glass, pop culture, toys and New Jersey memorabilia. Remmey also volunteers for a variety of charitable organizations, has written for antiques publications, and has also appeared on Antiques Roadshow.

Ellen Schroy, who has edited 23 consecutive editions of the Warman’s Antiques and Collectibles Price Guide, will return as a general appraiser. Beyond her work as a noted author in the antiques industry, Schroy, of Quakertown, Pa., contributes to Antique Trader and has appeared as a guest on nationally broadcast television and radio shows.

Bringing years of experience in appraisal of maps, prints, books and autographs is Dale Sorenson, director of auctions and former owner of Waverly Auctions, along with Quinn’s Auctions, of Falls Church, Va. In addition to being a Ph.D. in American literature and studies, Sorenson brings to the show years of experience cataloging and providing formal appraisals.
An accredited member of International Society of Appraisers, Linda Roberts will provide appraisals on general items. Roberts and her husband, Howard, own White Orchid Antiques & Appraisals in Media, Pa.

C. Jeanenne Bell joins the Atlantique City appraisal booth this October and brings more than 30 years of experience in all phases of the antique, estate and collectable jewelry business. She is an avid collector and an active wholesaler and retailer. The author of books, videos and numerous magazine articles, she is well known throughout the jewelry industry.
“The appraisal booth is a popular draw at Atlantique City, and we’re excited to build on the tradition of high-profile specialists offering free appraisal for our show attendees,” said Eric Bradley, show producer of Atlantique City.

Attendees can have one item appraised for free; subsequent appraisals are charged $10 each. Appraisers are prohibited from giving values on items purchased during the show. The appraisal booth is located near the Antique Trader Marketplace, where visitors can purchase books and magazine subscriptions. Appraisal hours will be noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21.
