Politis Communications Brings More Experience on Board

DRAPER, Utah – September 19, 2007 – Politis Communications, a strategic communications agency, today announced the hiring of Jon Hawkins as senior account executive.

Hawkins brings with him five-plus years of experience to the agency and will be responsible for managing services such as account management , program planning, media relations and writing, and will work with such clients as Cirque, StoresOnline, Thinking Craft and Quansys, among others.

“After continued growth this summer, we were ready to add another experienced and dedicated PR professional to the Politis team,” said David Politis, president of Politis Communications. “Jon Hawkins has had experiences unrivaled by many in the state of Utah, and we’re delighted to put his creative abilities and experience to work for us.”

Hawkins started his professional career at Edelman PR in its Washington, D.C., office. His work there gained national and international attention as he aided the 9/11 Commission in the launch of its New York Times best-selling report on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. He also helped direct the public affairs efforts for the Association of American Railroads, the National Endowment for the Arts and Sikorsky Helicopters’ bid for the Marine One contract. He also directed the third-party and influencer outreach for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to joining Politis Communications, Hawkins joined Connect PR in both its Herndon, Va., and Provo, Utah, offices, managing several accounts for the high-tech media relations firm.

Hawkins graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications, with an emphasis in public relations, from Brigham Young University. While at BYU, Hawkins held a number of internships in public relations, including working for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games Torch Relay media relations team, the LDS Church public affairs department and the Utah Commission on Volunteers.
