CHICAGO (June 2005)—Ding Dong, the Ice Cream Man’s arrived, and he’s parked outside of MAS, 1670 W. Division, for the entire month of July, which, as any ice cream fanatic knows, is National Ice Cream Month!MAS captures the true soul of Latin culture in a contemporary environment. With its own unique style of "Nuevo Latino" cuisine developed by Executive Chef John Manion, MAS radiates with the authentic flair and flavor of the Latin landscape. At once embraced by the restaurant’s thriving energy, guests enjoy an unparalleled experience filled with upbeat music, knowledgeable staff, stellar service and an extensive menu melding the mosaic tastes of our neighbors to the South.
Truth be told, it’s not exactly the ice cream man, but Executive Chef John Manion who will be stirring and blending all month long to create some of the city’s best summer ice-cream desserts. Whether you seek a “quick fix” to sate your sweet tooth or the perfect finale to cap a casual evening of conversation and savory cuisine, there’s something for everyone…. and who doesn’t love ice cream?
Among the specials to be featured at MAS from July 1 – 31 are:
Chef John Manion offers up a few homemade specialty desserts including Colombian Chocolate, Ancho Gelato and Horachata float ($7); Banana-Bacardi Tres Leches with coconut ice cream ($7); Michigan Cherry Tart with Lemon-Yerba Buena ice cream ($7); Argentine Alfahores with Dulce de Leche gelato ($7); and Len Klug's Michigan peaches three ways: Peach cobbler with cajeta cream, Flambeed with Pisco brandy, and Peach and Marcona Almond ice cream ($7).
MAS is open for dinner Monday through Thursday, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 5:30 to 10 p.m. Brunch is served Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Private party space is available and valet parking is offered nightly.
