Fort Worth, TX – September 17, 2007 - The 17th Annual Big Band Hangar Dance & Silent Auction fundraiser will be held at the Vintage Flying Museum on October 13, 2007. Each year this popular event attracts swing dance fans, historical re-enactors, veterans of all services and those who are simply looking for an evening out. “We had approximately 1, 200 attend last year,” said Chuckie Hospers, event director for the hangar dance. “Period attire is not mandatory, but it adds to the fun and we always award prizes for the best dressed. We see everything from 1940’s suits and dresses to period military uniforms.”
Each year the museum pays tribute to a specific group or historic event. This year it is the 60th Anniversary of the Air Force. All Air Force and Air National Guard members, veterans, active duty, or reserve will be recognized.
The Alan Glasscock Orchestra will provide the big band sounds for the nostalgic evening of entertainment with his sixteen piece orchestra. The event is staged in front of the B-17 Flying Fortress in an authentic WWII B-29 hangar (Hangar 33 South) on 505 N.W. 38th St. in Ft. Worth.
Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with dancing from 8 to midnight. The event is BYOB with soft drinks and snacks available for purchase.
