Comp Nine is now offering proven and effective roadside bomb jamming technology directly to the public. Comp Nine's IED jamming devices are based on the proven functionality of the Military’s Warlock system. Both systems rely on jamming frequencies commonly used to detonate remote IED's while avoiding military frequencies. This technology has proven especially effective at countering the threat of improvised explosive devices, such as those being used by terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. By jamming non-military frequencies, the threat of IED's activated through civilian frequencies, such as cell phones, pagers, and walkie-talkies are significantly reduced. This is important, because components that broadcast over civilian frequencies are likely those which terrorists have the greatest access.
IED jamming devices are even relied upon by heads of state, but their cost and size has prevented wide military application. For instance, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf ‘s motorcade was equipped with such a device allowing his motorcade to safely cross a bridge before a large remote IED could be detonated.
The main advantage of Comp Nine's IED jamming systems is their size and weight. Older systems such as the shortstop weight over 40 pounds excluding power source and occupy 1.5 cubic feet. Comp Nine's Y050 jammer is roughly the size of two decks of cards, weighs 0.6 pounds including power source, and still provides enough power to jam signals well in excess of 80 feet. Despite its small size, The Y050 jammer has an incredible 1:1 discharge ratio providing 3 hours of runtime from a 3 hour charge.
Comp Nine's IED jammers also follow the Warlock concept as being dual-use. They will effectively jam cell phone communications and wireless internet connections while avoiding common military frequencies. This provides secondary protection against enemy spies and scouts using modern communications to track friendly movement.
A final area of mention is the relative affordability of the devices. Based on public contract information the Warlock system costs upwards of $340,000, whereas our systems cost 0.1% of that.
For those without a loved one overseas we also accept donations. All donations will be used to purchase jamming devices at cost and will be shipped to an adopt-a-soldier foundation for distribution overseas.
