KINGSTON, N.Y. — Sept. 14 — Success in marketing will require following the new laws of Web 2.0 communications. Traditional PR, advertising and promotions are still needed to compete and grow, but they must now be augmented with content-based Web publishing techniques. So says John Mallen, CEO of JMC Marketing Communications & PR in an interview to be broadcast in the Hudson Valley this week as part of the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce weekly radio program. JMC will co-sponsor the Chamber’s Sept. 19 Business After Hours Mixer at The Emerson of Woodstock with Save-On Party Centre.
Mallen told Chamber President Ward Todd that today we are experiencing a major change in the techniques of communicating to the marketplace. The change is from placement of ads (as paid media) or publicity (as earned media) to publishing useful information that customers are interested in learning.
JMC will kick off celebration of its 20th anniversary at Wednesday’s event, said JMC Vice President and General Manager Sylvia Murphy. The mixer runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Emerson on Route 375 in Woodstock. Information is available from the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce at 845 331-5800.
