GoAntiques.com announced today that it has passed the half million mark in art, antiques and collectibles inventory available online with a total value of almost $275 million. Reaching this milestone solidifies GoAntiques.com’s position as the largest online marketplace using storefront and auction formats focused exclusively on merchandising arts, antiques and collectibles, according to Jim Kamnikar, president and chief executive officer.
“Achieving an inventory of more than 500,000 items is a long way from where we started more than a decade ago,” Kamnikar said. “Through the boom years of the late 90s and the dot com bust of a few years ago, GoAntiques kept growing, and now we’re one of the largest online sources of antiques and collectibles anywhere.”
Individual buyers and antique dealers worldwide use GoAntiques.com for finding and merchandising art, antiques and collectibles. The company provides a wide array of integrated support services and the reach of an international network for buyers and dealers to locate, buy and sell merchandise.
“Our $275 million inventory further strengthens our position as a major online marketplace for antiques that offers both storefront and live auction selling,” Kamnikar said.
In addition, GoAntiques.com over the years has broadened its reach through affiliations and partnerships. The company’s far-reaching distribution network proves art, antiques and collectibles to many sites including Google Product Search and BobVila.com, as well as eBay Live Auctions. GoAntiques.com also offers a Wholesale Channel for member dealers looking to sell and source quality merchandise at wholesale prices.
Another part of GoAntiques.com’s success is private label use of its vast online inventory by insurance companies. Through PriceMiner®, a GoAntiques.com product, historical pricing information can be accessed from a base of more than 24 million records from online sources such as eBay Market Data and Tias.com, in addition to GoAntiques.com, and from premier land-based auction houses such as Phillips de Pury, Canadian Coinoisseur, Rago Arts & Auction Center, Stanley Gibbons, Manitou Galleries, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and others. PriceMiner data and its 20 million photos of merchandise are used to determine replacement and market value of art, antiques and collectibles.
GoAntiques.com’s inventory comes from more than 1,400 dealers in 27 countries. More than a million visits and thousands of transactions are logged on GoAntiques.com each month. More than 350,000 people are registered as GoAntiques.com members.
