The company has indicated that doors will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.The Company further reports that there is still plenty of time for consignors to register on the Moppet Togs Website at http://www.moppettogs.com or call 208-361-2012 to become consignors for the Fall 2007 sale. Consignors may enter and drop off items up until 6:00 pm on Monday September 17, 2007.
"We are really excited about our new location this year near the intersection of Fairview and Milwaukee," states Jon Jones, co-founder and partner with Moppet Togs. "Not only is the list location near the Boise Town Square Mall, it is also near one of the busiest intersections in the state. We expect lots of drive- by traffic," continues Mr. Jones.
Moppet Togs held its first sale in the fall of 2005 and has been holding a spring and fall sale each year ever since. Open to the public for only three (3) days, the partnership reports that the Moppet Togs sales are growing exponentially and as such, they are continually having to secure larger locations and employ more workers and volunteers.
"We started Moppet Togs back in 2005 because we were tired of garage sales and wanted to offer the Treasure Valley market a venue to buy and sell gently used boutique and name brand children's clothes such as Gymboree, MiniBoden, Old Navy, The Children's Place and Gap, toys, furniture and accessories at reasonable prices," states Karie Skamser, co-founder and partner with Moppet Togs. "Starting with our first sale, we have quickly grown into a much bigger business than we had ever imagined. We are expecting 250 Consignors at our Fall 2007 sale with at least 15,000 items and 2,500 shoppers over the three day sale," continues Mrs. Skamser.
The Company reports that it has automated its entire business with an online inventory control system that enables shoppers to enter and price all of their items over the Internet in the privacy and comfort of their own homes. Workers then print bar-coded price tags at a predefined drop off location and attach the tags to the items when consignors drop them off. The Company further reports that checkout is also automated through an integrated online POS system that supports barcode readers and real-time inventory control. Further, Moppet Togs has an integrated online accounting system that enables them to report sales to its consignors at the end of every sale day and have consignor payments ready within several days after the sale closes.
Moppet Togs also utilized advanced Internet marketing and communications technology as it relies on a sophisticated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to continuously update its Consignors and invite the public to its sales. The Company reports that its expects to send out over 20,000 emails in connection with the Fall 2007 sale.
"The Moppet Togs system is very professional, convenient and easy to use," states Maggie McCormick, one of Moppet Togs premiere consignors. "I have consigned with other sales and it has always been a real hassle to create my own price tags and then wait for weeks to get paid for the items that were sold. I have shopped some of the other sales and checkout is a real nightmare waiting for someone to add up your items manually and hoping that they don't make a mistake," continues Mrs. McCormick. "Basically, I am done with the other sales. I plan to put all of my consignment items in the Moppet Togs sale from now on and tell all of my friends how easy it is to both consign and shop. Moppet Togs has the largest selection of Gymboree, new and used, compared to any other sale, at bargain prices. I also receive more from my sales than I do at any other store because I get a greater percentage. They have the nicest items, checked over well for cleanliness and quality. I just think that Moppet Togs is great all the way around. These are Moms helping Moms provide the best quality of clothes for the best prices,“ indicates Mrs. McCormick.
The Company also reports that setting up and managing the operations to move the volume of clothes, consignors and shoppers through the process is a logistical challenge. Since Moppet Togs is not a year-round business and only maintains a retail location for two (2) weeks twice a year, all of the clothes racks, telephone connections, internet connections, computers and other equipment have to be setup, utilized and then taken down in a very efficient manner. To manage all of this, the Company relies on Jon Jones, co-founder and partner with Moppet Togs. Mr. Jones is a logistician with the Idaho National Army Guard and returned in 2005 from Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), where he accounted for Army property.
"Staging Moppet Togs in such a short period of time is not an easy task," states Mr. Jones. "We build a store and then take it apart two times a year. However, we have gotten the process down to a science and will be able to address the infrastructure requirements created by the expected explosive growth in the coming years," continues Mr. Jones.
Moppet Togs also strives to help families in need through Consignor donations. Each Consignor has the option to donate any items that do not sell to charity. Moppet Togs then takes those items to the charity that they have chosen for that sale. As an example, Moppet Togs will be donating to the families of the Armed Forces for their Fall 2007 sale.
