Toronto Immigration lawyer and columnist, Guidy Mamann, criticizes Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s skirting of a medical ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada

Toronto, September 12, 2007 – Toronto Immigration lawyer and columnist, Guidy Mamann, criticizes Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s skirting of a ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada governing the medical admissibility to Canada of children with intellectual disabilities.

Last Friday, Citizenship and Immigration Canada ("CIC")released Operational Bulletin 037 outlining new procedures that it was adopting in order to comply with the courts 2-year old landmark ruling.

In his weekly Metro News column, Mr. Mamann lambastes the CIC for its usual “never-give-an-inch” fashion. He accuses the government of interpreting the language in the court’s ruling in such a way as to effectively limit the use of the precedent setting ruling.
