RALEIGH, NC — Carl Bahn, Cabinetry Division Branch Leader for Horizon Forest Products, has successfully raised “bail” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Annual Lock-Up fundraiser. The Raleigh event was held on August 29th at the Sheraton Downtown Raleigh.Bahn surpassed his “bail” of $3,000 and raised $3,370. This is the first year Bahn has participated in MDA’s Lock-Up and said that “I was approached several years ago to participate in this event,” explains Bahn. “A slot came open this year that allowed me to join in and help out. It’s a great cause, and I hope to be asked to return next year.”
Money raised by Bahn allowed MDA to send five kids with Muscular Dystrophy to Camp Carefree, a free, one-week camping experience for youngsters from North Carolina and neighboring states with specific health problems and disabilities. The program was founded in 1986 and accommodates 120 campers, counselors, and medical personnel.
“I had a great time and appreciate all the contributions made that helped me exceed my goal,” adds Bahn. “When [MDA] told me that $3,000 would send five kids to Camp Carefree for a week, I knew I had to do it. Being able to give five kids a week to forget about their disease and just be a kid was an awesome cause!”
