Seattle, WA, September 2007 – ActiveChinese, Inc., the San Francisco-based leading provider of Mandarin eLearning solutions for corporations, schools, and individuals, became one of the first eLearning platforms integrated into the academic world. Bellevue Community College in Seattle Washington, will be using ActiveChinese’s University Edition as the main learning tool in an online course being conducted in September 2007 .Wei Geiger, a seasoned Mandarin teacher at Bellevue Community College, will be linking up students from around the world for her Chinese 101 online course. The college’s distance learning program will be taking on a new flavor this term as Wei has decided to forego the traditional textbook in favor of ActiveChinese’s University Edition 101 Course.
The incorporation of ActiveChinese’s Chinese 101&102 injects a new flexibility to Bellevue Community College’s online courses. As students use the virtual classroom to study and review material, the instructor has more time and resources to focus on each student’s progress and learning needs. In addition, the interactive element of ActiveChinese’s flash animated lessons engage the students to study a seemingly difficult language and have fun in the process
“We’re presenting a groundbreaking approach to eLearning for educational institutions by providing both online and offline capabilities,” says Larry Chen, CEO of ActiveChinese, Inc. “A teacher can go through our curriculum together with her students while online and students can continue to study offline with our CDROM courseware and on the go mp3 and 4 downloads.”
ActiveChinese’s University Edition can also be used in the classroom as a way to diversify the traditional curriculum. Educators and students can take advantage of the wide range of resources available on ActiveChinese’s website (http://www.ActiveChinese.com) to enhance their teaching and learning experience and take advantage of the technological breakthroughs in second language acquisition.
