BRIGHTON, MI- September 4, 2007- Automated Medical Systems (AMS) announced today that it has licensed worldwide exclusive rights to a technology invented by Mr. J. Todd Barrett of Mississippi. This is the second set of intellectual property that AMS obtains with the assistance of CJPS Enterprises, LLC (www.cjps-enterprises.com).This technology is for a computerized medication dispensing cart and system that will help nursing personnel in medical facilities automatically dispense prepackaged unit-dose medications to a patient, and to store medication information regarding each patient. The technology has an input device that permits nursing personnel to access the medication information regarding the patient and to request that the cart dispense the prescribed medications. A detector is mounted on each dispenser that detects the administration of the medications to the patient and records the time and date that the medications were administered.
AMS was created by GMR Krueger, an automotive supplier for over 70 years, which has been successful in working with OEMs providing expertise in automation. This expertise is being leveraged to penetrate the medical industry, and AMS has put in place systems to commercialize such medical products. Fred Schoville, AMS’ President, states: “We are continuing to develop our product lineup in automated medication dispensing, and expect to bring these new products to the U.S. market shortly. This invention is a terrific addition to our product portfolio.”
Once again, AMS called on CJPS Enterprises, LLC to find ways to diversify into new markets. The high-growth strategy firm, known for its speed and results, identified, negotiated and helped close this transaction very fast. This assistance was made possible through the 21st Century Jobs Fund Life Sciences Pipeline, managed by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the State of Michigan through one of Governor Jennifer Granholm’s growth initiatives. This contract tasks CJPS Enterprises, LLC to help Michigan companies grow into the life sciences.
