Business neednt unravel when you travel

TRAVELLING business people are being offered an end to the stress involved in recreating an office in their car, hotel room – or even on their knees. Pioneering new web service Cityoffices has created a portal which gives hard-pressed travellers instant access to hundreds of hot desks across Scotland at the touch of a button.More than 170 serviced business centres operate across the country, most offering office facilities that can be hired by the hour – yet they remain a surprisingly well-kept secret.
Now Cityoffices brings them all into one easy-to-navigate website which also dispenses with the need for expensive brokers who charge large fees for sourcing office space. Thomas Ashdown, who launched Cityoffices earlier this year said: "Nobody coming to Scotland on business wants to step off a train or a plane and start fretting about how they are going to get any work done.
“Balancing a laptop on one knee in a hotel room, while trying to get a wireless network connection and taking calls on a mobile adds to the stress of working on the move.
“It can be even harder if you are trying to work from a car or worse, in a noisy coffee shop. Yet that’s what countless business travelers do, because they’re unaware that hot desks and serviced offices are available. I was amazed to discover what’s available.”
Cityoffices is modeled on Thomas’s hugely successful Citylets residential lettings website, which has been established since 2000, is used by 200 letting agents and helps match tenants with 25,000 properties per year.
Hot desks are available from as little as £10 per hour and potential users can search for office with broadband connection, video-conferencing facilities and parking. Packages are available which also provide free tea and coffee and access to printers, faxes, photocopiers and even secretarial services.
The site also offers help to find meeting rooms and serviced offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Perth and Inverness, as well as holding details of other serviced business centres across Scotland – simply click on www.cityoffices.com.
