Food that TXTs you back

For those who can’t resist the temptation to munch through chocolate chip cookies all day because they’ve got less willpower than a spoilt 4 year old child, help is at hand. Food that TXTs back has arrived. With major food companies coming under increasing pressure to stop peddling food high in sugar, fat and anything else that makes it taste good and last for a thousand years, food companies are trying to earn kudos by making a dietitian available to anyone who buys their products.
It’s a simple idea. Each food packet has a number to text printed on it. The customer texts the number and a software application is then sent straight to their cell phone.
The software application then informs the customer of their nutrient intake for the day and that they already have had 4000 calories before lunch. They probably knew that already of course!
But the really clever thing about the service is that a customer can get in direct contact with a dietitian directly from the food packet.
The dietitian can then set up a personal meal plan for the customer who can download to their cell phone every day. The dietitian can even set daily nutrient limits for the customer such as a minimum of 2000 calories a day or a maximum of 80 grams of protein. If the customer breaches any of these limits they’ll get an immediate text message warning. Short of sending someone out to beat up the customer with a stick, it’s quite a comprehensive service.
Of course, the personal cell phone diet will probably be peppered with lots of the food companies’ products but there is no such thing as a free lunch from a food company.
A spokesman for Wirefile, the company behind the service said, “This service is really suited to large food companies who want to take a proactive approach with regards to the obesity issue. What better way to do it than to make the services of professional dietitians directly available to customers to buy their products. Our V-Clinic system, already widely accepted by dietitians, makes it possible for food companies to interact directly with their customers and address their personal dietary needs.”
Well, it probably had to happen at some stage. Eat up now while you've got the chance!
