Dyscern ranked #167 of all the fastest growing companies. This was Dyscern's first year of eligibility on the 26th annual Inc. 500 list."Dyscern is proud to be included on the 2007 Inc 500 list," said Jennifer Canty, Chief Executive Officer of Dyscern. "It’s a wonderful testament to the hard work of each of our employees. To have grown in such a short time from a home-based business into one of the fastest growing companies in the United States is amazing to all of us at Dyscern. We have only begun to scratch the surface of our potential, and are looking forward to the coming year with anticipation."
Canty is one of the few female CEOs to make their appearance on the Inc. 500 list. Dyscern is also one of the top 20 fastest growing companies in the Washington D.C. metro area.
Dyscern specializes in selling overstock, returned, distressed and end-of-life consumer electronics. Dyscern recycles these units and restores them to functionality, providing new life to electronics that would otherwise be destined for a landfill. Dyscern sells via its own storefront at http://www.dyscern.com/ and through such large eCommerce sites as eBay, Overstock.com, Amazon.com and Buy.com.
"Dyscern is the perfect example of how entrepreneurs can use eBay to grow their business and achieve their goals," said Matthew Ledwith, director of seller experience at eBay. "The Dyscern team should be commended for their vision and passionate commitment to their business."
The 2007 Inc. 500 list measures revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based and privately held, independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2006, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003, and $2 million in 2006.
"If you want to find out which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500," said Inc. Editor Jane Berentson. "These are the most innovative, dynamic, fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones coming up with solutions to some of our most intractable ills, creating systems that let us conduct business faster and easier, and manufacturing products we soon discover we can’t live without. The Inc. 500 list is Inc. magazine’s tribute to American business ingenuity and ambition."
