Brooklin, Ontario – WeeHands Baby Sign Language Inc. has put our name into the ring to win The SavvyMom Mompreneur of the Year Award, a readers’ choice contest designed to find Canada’s top Mompreneur. The winner will be announced in the fall, and will be rewarded with an $18,000 prize package of cash, business services and office equipment that was designed to help take that business to the next level.WeeHands was founded in 2001 by Sara Bingham who has a background working with children with special needs. Sara’s own children, Joshua (age 7) and Sabrina (age 5) have been her inspiration behind the WeeHands program. “Joshua signed at 9 months of age and Sabrina signed at 11 months. Both were able to communicate and show their unique personalities and own awareness of the world because they were able to sign before they could speak”.
"WeeHands was born in my empty dining room and now over 50 qualified WeeHands instructors now teach across North America! Our classes teach parents how to use American Sign Language vocabulary with their babies and have a strong focus on language development and provide parents with activities that help them teach their babies ASL vocabulary and include language development strategies." Says Sara Bingham, founder of WeeHands, “If WeeHands is honoured with the title of Mompreneur of the Year, we plan to build awareness regarding our classes and look into development of sign language and language development products. My hope is to help parents sign with their children and to experience the amazing bonding experience that comes from it. I’m proud of all that has been accomplished with WeeHands - I know that we can do more!”
Throughout the contest period, Savvymom.ca will be hosting a ‘Mompreneurs Gallery’ at www.mompreneuraward.com. WeeHands Baby Sign Language Inc. can be viewed by clicking on this URL, http://www.mompreneuraward.com/MomBio.aspx?momID=298.
