Poker player Amir Vahedi has certainly made his name known in the poker industry as Southern California Tournament Pro. His unpredictable and aggressive style makes him a fearsome adversary. Most opponents find him difficult if not impossible to read. Amir doesn’t play to survive, he plays to win. He has a very attractive personality and a great sense of humor that makes him popular among the ladies. Guys like him too but for a different reason. They know his aggressive style of play and know he bluffs a lot. In a cash game Amir’s style of play often gets him in trouble but suits him perfect for tournaments! Vahedi considers himself a great tournament player. Born in 1961 and coming from Tehran, Iran Amir has come a long way. Amir was the personal poker tutor of movie star, Ben Affleck. Poker lessons were a birthday present to Ben; and Amir was flown to the lessons first class on a private jet. Amir certainly showed Ben his best strategies and tips; evidence is Affleck’s first place finish in the California Championship in 2003.
Amir has had numerous final table appearances, many first place finishes and a WSOP bracelet to his name. He looks good on TV too! He played against Kathy Liebert and Evelyn Ng in GSN’s “Battle of the Sexes” and was once the guest host on “Ultimate Poker Challenge”. This year has also been good to Amir, he already has 3 first place finishes and is the running for player of the year! Amir will be playing this year’s WSOP representing PokerHost.com. Poker players can join Amir at www.pokerhost.com and play at either of his two tables, just look for tables under his name. Good luck against Amir if you can manage to get a seat!
