There’s More to Craigslist Than Meets the Eye

New York, NY—- August 20, 2007—- The Craigslist mission is clear – people helping people. Craigslist Foundation takes that one step further — helping people help, regardless of cause or sector.

With this mission in mind, The Craigslist Foundation has been offering Nonprofit Boot Camp events across the country to help educate, empower and connect the next generation of nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs.

In 2006, The Craigslist Foundation brought the first, annual Nonprofit Boot Camp to New York City. Over 700 attendees from New York area nonprofits were given hands-on educational training programs for running non-profits as well as the opportunity to network with each other and area companies that provide services geared towards helping nonprofits. The event received a 99.5% approval rating from attendees, and this year’s event is expected to see over 1,000 attendees, 75 different partnering organizations, 40 exhibitors at the Exhibition Hall, and 20 seminars.

The Craigslist Foundation is positioned to support nonprofits by leveraging its global resources to provide free and low cost education opportunities to emerging nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs, thereby fulfilling the mission of providing knowledge, resources and visibility to the next generation of nonprofit leaders.

The Boot Camp offers five educational tracks including: Nonprofit Basics, Fundraising, Technology and Social Entrepreneurship This year’s event will also feature One-on-One coaching: Ask the Expert and Career coaching opportunities, and Greening strategies to reduce environmental impact.

The 2007 New York Nonprofit Boot Camp will take place on Saturday, September 15th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
