Detroit, Mi. Sept. 8th 2007 MBAD/ABA African Bead Museum presents it 4th
Annual African Bead Festival from 10 am to 10 pm at the museum located at 6559 Grand River at West Grand blvd. Detroit Mi

The festival will begin with the unveiling of the museum’s bead murals.
and will featuring The band the Bambuti, Pitch Black Poets,
DJ Marty B. Bulger of stride entertainment, Artist Village,
Special guest appearance by international master artist / poet
Aaron Ibn Pori Pitts and master artist Owusa Millard.


There will be live entertainment, drumming, dance, music, spoken
word, hip hop, face painting, clay mask making, bead making workshops,
coloring book contest, food, various other activities throughout the day and a
special selection of vendors showcasing there original designs.

Our mission is to build and organize collection of beads, bead works, textiles,
sculptures and other cultural relics which exemplify the range of material of the
African people. With this focus, the museum is committed to presenting
exhibitions, publications, public programming and serve as a resource center.

MBAD African Bead Museum was incorporated in Michigan in 1994 by Sonja
Lockhart, Chris Woodard, Frank Coston, Efe Bess and Larry Mitchell as the
culmination of one African known as Olayami Dabls—esteemed artist, museum
curator, collector and dealer of African culture. relics.

The American Black Artist (ABA) and MBAD African Bead Museum Merged
on November 15 1999. ABA was founded by Dr. Leno Art Jaxon in 1971 in
Detroit Michigan.

This year festival is sponsor by Bundles of Joy Activewear, Power of Nine Investment,
