Southern Lady magazine is now taking reservations for its Fifth Anniversary Southern Lady Celebration. The event will take place September 21-23, 2007, at the renowned Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. The editors of Southern Lady will host eight speakers whose insight and advice will cover everything from etiquette and entertaining, to letter writing and flower arranging. Southern Lady magazine premiered as a bimonthly lifestyle publication in 1999. Filled with entertaining touches and delicious recipes, Southern Lady serves as a guide to gracious living for its readers. Each issue aims to inspire, featuring the lives and stories of remarkable women who call the South home.
The magazine launched its first Southern Lady Celebration in Sandestin, Florida, in 2003. The now annual event draws hundreds of women from across the South looking for an inspirational weekend full of shopping and entertainment. “We wanted to create a special event that would bring the magazine to life for our readers,” said Ande Fanning, the magazine’s editor. “Year after year we showcase speakers and offer activities that celebrate and nourish the heart of every Southern lady. This is the perfect opportunity for longtime subscribers, as well as newcomers, to experience a weekend that has become a tradition for so many.”
Dorothea Johnson will be honored at this year’s Celebration as the Southern Lady of the Year. The award recognizes Southern women who exemplify the charm, poise, and hospitality for which Southern ladies are renowned, who serve as role models and mentors, and who positively impact their communities. Dorothea Johnson is known nationwide as a foremost etiquette expert. She is the founder of The Protocol School of Washington, has published several books, and is a regular columnist for TeaTime magazine.
Naomi Judd will also make the trip to Dallas. She will share a motivational account of her victory over challenges amid the disappointment of walking away from country music at the height of her career.
Joining Celebration for the first time will be Gayle Driggers from Crane & Co. Gayle will explore the art of letter writing and the re-emergence of the calling card. Other speakers will include flower expert Dorothy McDaniel, comedian Jeanne Robertson, and devotional leader Dr. Lael Melville.
Finally, guests of the event will be invited to shop at the Southern Lady Emporium. Featured merchandise will be hand-selected to appeal to the tastes of the ladies who enjoy Southern Lady magazine.
