TheRenewableEnergyCentre.co.uk today announced a tremendous response to the launch of the ‘Guide to Home Energy-Saving’; available to download free on their website.

In the ongoing fight against climate change, there is increasing emphasis on the significance of the part which homeowners have to play. The Renewable Energy Centre has pledged to help encourage and educate UK households with the release of their Guide to Home Energy Saving.

Households are currently responsible for over a quarter of the total UK carbon emissions each year, but research shows this could be easily reduced through simple energy saving measures or by generating renewable energy to supplement the use to fossil fuels. The guide provides a selection of the most simple and cost effective ways of saving energy, key areas for home improvement, an introduction to generating your own electricity, information on grants and funding and useful websites and places to visit.

The Guide to Home Energy Saving was released at the beginning of August to coincide with the government’s introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPS). This compulsory set of documents is required for all homes sold in the UK with 4 bedrooms or more and includes an assessment of each property’s energy efficiency, rated from a grade of A-G.

The information provided by The Renewable Energy Centre aims to help people prepare their home for assessment and improve their home’s energy rating, often leading to a higher selling price as well as a faster and smoother transaction.

The Renewable Energy Centre is an online specialist resource for businesses, government organisations and individuals and provides a wealth of further information on sustainable and renewable technologies. The website offers a wide range of valuable resources including a practical introduction to eleven areas of renewable technology and advice on installation and a national directory of thousands of specialist contractors and suppliers with the facility to filter by region.

Visitors to the site can also find further specialist advice through direct website links to relevant organisations such as Energy Efficiency Advice Centres, Trade Associations and Community Groups, which provide localised and practical information.

Richard Simmons, founder of The Renewable Energy Centre said “As one of the UK’s largest online directories for information on sustainable and renewable energy, we are dedicated to continually providing new areas of information which are valuable to people and businesses who want to reduce their carbon footprint.”

He continued “We aim to raise awareness of renewable energy and suitable methods of generating power for each type of home. However, we also want to educate homeowners that we can only truly reduce the impact we are having on the environment if we realise that renewable energy cannot be used as a solution in isolation. It is important that we work towards more energy efficient homes and reduce our often excessive use of electricity and fuel.”

Launched at the beginning of 2007, The Renewable Energy Centre has already established itself as an authority website in the sector and should be the first port of call for any individual or business researching the subject.
