Miami to Host World’s Largest and Most Extensive Anti-Violence Event

August 13, 2007 (Miami, FL)—Youth Crime Watch of America, a Miami-based not-for-profit with 525 sites across the United States, 300 of which are in Florida, announces today that its 19th conference on anti gangs, drugs and violence will be held at the Radisson Miami Hotel in Miami, FL. The conference will carry a theme entitled “Building Champions”. In light of recent violent episodes from New Jersey, Virginia Tech and other campuses, event organizers chose that theme title to reinforce Youth Crime Watch’s mission and a fast-growing trend of cooperative student-adult partnerships. “Today, more students choose to collaborate with their school’s administrators and public safety departments to become directly involved in the enrichment and safety of their campuses,” explains executive director, Terry Modglin. The conference is slated for Tuesday, March 25 through Saturday, March 29 of 2008.

Miami has hosted the National Youth Crime Prevention Conference (NYCPC) many times since its inception. The event continues to be the world’s largest and most extensive four-day conference of its kind routinely attracting delegates from Guam, Jamaica, Brazil, Russia and thirteen other countries. Over the course of 19 years, the NYCPC has been attended by a total exceeding 20,000 participants and has featured speakers and appearances such as Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, Hotel Rwanda’s Paul Rusesabagina and athletic and television stars.
