SBS and Surf Communication Solutions Announce Collaboration on Voice-over-IP and Media-over-Packet Solutions

Partnership is an important step for easily integrating voice and video applications on next-generation AdvancedTCA® and AdvancedMC™ platforms

Today at SuperComm 2005, SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of one of the broadest lines of mezzanine communications modules in the embedded industry, and Surf Communication Solutions (“Surf”), the leading provider of high-capacity Triple-Play media-processing enabling technologies, announced their partnership to jointly develop and market AdvancedTCA®-, MicroTCA™- and AdvancedMC™-based convergent media solutions to the communications market. The WAN I/O and DSP AdvancedMC products currently in development will support the standards-based PICMG SFP I-TDM protocol over Gigabit Ethernet for transporting voice, video, fax, and modem traffic over high-speed AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA switching backplanes.

The combined SBS and Surf solution is a highly-scalable, modular building block for convergent AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, and proprietary communications systems, such as IP-to-IP and TDM (Mobile)-to-IP media gateways, media-enhanced telephony servers, session border controllers, CTI applications (e.g., voice and video mail), conference bridges, wireless base stations, iPBX, and softswitches. Surf’s Triple-Play media processing solutions run on Texas Instruments (TI) state-of-the-art TMS320C6412 DSPs.
