Local Couple Starts Support Community for St. Louis Area Parents

John and Tracie McClain learned very early on as new parents that nobody understands what it’s like to have kids until you actually have them. And parents don’t always have a readily available network of friends who they can relate to. So the couple created PeaTot.com, a web-based community for St. Louis parents to share in the ups and downs of their experiences raising children.

The site aims to provide local parents with a one-stop destination for all of the information, advice, news and support they need in their daily lives as dads and moms. And it caters specifically to local parents. With a few clicks, members can access coupons for local businesses and find a calendar full of family-friendly activities happening daily in the St. Louis area.

“We understand that parents don’t have huge chunks of time in their day that they can spend surfing the net,” co-founder John McClain said. “PeaTot provides a single destination for parents to get and share information without having to visit ten different websites.”

According to the McClains, PeaTot is about embracing the reality of parenting. It connects parents to an entire community of people who know what it’s like to discover the kids used the wall as a canvas for their latest crayon masterpiece. While PeaTot’s central hub is web-based, they’ll soon have a presence in the real world as well. The McClains are planning a launch party to introduce local parents to PeaTot, and they plan to make PeaTot-hosted events an important part of the community experience.

PeaTot.com has a number of different tools that allow registered members to get and share information quickly and easily. Parents can participate in forums, manage their own blogs, access product recall news and read and submit product reviews.

“The value PeaTot brings to parents is that it caters to their busy schedules,” McClain said. “By creating all of these resources in a single online destination, we’ve made it much simpler for parents to plan events, access coupons and get the information they need, even if it’s only for a few minutes during nap time.”
