TAMPA, Fla. – (Aug. 9, 2007) – Magnetic, a full-service Web development firm celebrating its 10th anniversary, has been named a finalist in the 21-50 employees category for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s 27th annual Small Business of the Year Award. “We are honored that our commitment to setting a good business example, staying true to our ideals and educating the business community about the power of the Internet has been recognized by the Chamber,” said Ken Bakunas, CEO of Magnetic, which has reached the finals or semi-finals of the Chamber awards for the past five years. “This dedication has been a driving factor behind Magnetic’s success over the past ten years, and the platform for establishing the company as a fixture in this community.”
In the past year, Magnetic’s staff has doubled in size, and is expected to continue growing throughout the year to accommodate the rapid expansion of its Web development services. As a result of that growth, the company recently expanded its office space, building out an additional 2,215 square feet to make room for 15 new employees and to provide each departmental team, including sales, account management and administrative, with its own area.
Magnetic’s reputation for quality, honesty and providing an optimal organizational culture for attracting and retaining talented professionals has earned it and its executive team numerous accolades. Most recently, Magnetic was named among the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work,” receiving the highest score of all categories for the second year in a row, and the company’s president was named the 2006 Young BusinessWoman of the Year. The company also earned the 2006 Standard of Excellence WebAward from the Web Marketing Association.
“We love Tampa and are committed to making a long-term investment in the community and supporting the area’s growth and economic development,” said Jennifer Bakunas, President of Magnetic. “I am thrilled that we have been recognized for our corporate values and dedication to elevating business standards within our industry.”
Since 1981, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing Hillsborough County’s superior small businesses and their leaders through its annual Small Business of the Year Award. Companies are judged on their financial success, community involvement and ethical business practices. Winners will be announced on Oct. 5, 2007.
