WESTFORD, MA (August 8, 2007) – Vertilon Corporation (http://www.vertilon.com) announced today that it has released the latest version of its PhotoniQ software targeted at high speed scanned imaging applications. Compatible with existing PhotoniQ multichannel photomultiplier tube data acquisition systems, Version 2.1 adds several new operating modes and features that increase performance and utility when used in challenging applications such as fluorescence confocal microscopy. The most significant feature is the addition of a new data acquisition mode specifically designed for rapid, continuous data collection. When operated in this mode, a PhotoniQ system can acquire and store very large multichannel images in its image buffer in a few seconds.

A typical high end PhotoniQ system takes only two and a half seconds to acquire a complete image of one million pixels at 32 channels per pixel. Other features in the upgrade include trigger counting and automatic pixel indexing that simplify the interface between the PhotoniQ and the user’s application software and image scanning hardware.

“We regularly encounter customers looking for data acquisition systems for confocal microscopy and other imaging applications,” said Vincent Palermo, President and Founder of Vertilon. “They are continually trying to improve their image quality by increasing the speed, resolution, and number of spectral channels in their systems. This latest software upgrade allows them to achieve all without sacrificing dynamic range or sensitivity.”

The software upgrade is installed using simple PC-based utilities that update the PhotoniQ’s graphical user interface as well as its firmware. It is available today for all PhotoniQ models.
