Kansas City, MO — August 14, 2007 — Red Echo Group, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping under privileged children and adolescents express themselves through film announced today that Vice Chairman Andrew Ellenberg will now serve as President and Chairman of the Board. The appointment of Mr. Ellenberg signals a clear commitment from the board to accelerate the growth of Films for Youth in its mission to lead today’s most “at risk” youth into a future of prosperity, personal fulfillment and giving back to the community.
Chief Executive Officer, Eric Keith expressed his confidence in the decision. “Andrew Ellenberg is a proven leader in the media and entertainment business. He brings to the Films for Youth board a diversified skill set in programming, development, alliances, strategy and marketing.”
With hit radio program credits to his name such as Living Large, the Heartland Business Roundtable, Rides that Rock, and Inside the Boardroom as executive producer for a nationally respected broadcaster, Mr. Ellenberg will now have an opportunity to play a larger role in developing and executing the Films for Youth growth strategy in 2008 and beyond.
“Films for Youth" has already empowered over 1,100 kids in danger of becoming victims of substance abuse, violent crime and neglect to spend their free time collectively writing, acting, directing, producing, filming and editing 55 original movies in our test market. As a newly minted father and huge fan of this innovative after school alternative, it’s an honor to work in a broader capacity and further the mission with such a talented executive team and board of directors,” said Ellenberg.
Let’s Make a Movie is a rapidly growing non-profit program focusing on developing young filmmakers between the ages of twelve and sixteen by guiding them through the entire moviemaking process – from script to screen. Independent studies have proven that kids who work on movies develop advanced leadership and creative skills and are considerably less susceptible to negative peer pressure. Partners and major funding support for Films for Youth program is provided by Hallmark Cards, The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, HAKC, Boys and Girls Club of America, Operation Breakthrough and VML Advertising.
