armaniblog.com : “I’m Not A Plastic Bag” IT Bag
August 05, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Lifestyle News
London Designer Anya Hindmarch’s $15 eco-friendly shopping bag sold like hot cakes at Whole Foods Market in White Plains last week. It only took a total of 10 hours for 300 people to snap up the bags. Of course, the fact that it has been promoted endlessly with reports of Lily Cole, Erin O’Conner and Keira Knightley seen with the bag in hand may have done wonders in terms of publicity. As a result of the celebrity endorsement the bags were going for £200 on ebay. Can you imagine that???
The eco friendly bags are a classic khaki tote with Hindmarch’s name on the inside flap and with the words saying “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” stiched across the front. The purpose of the bag is simple, to encourage people not to use plastic carrier bags. The bag has been produced in partnership with We Are What We Do, a non-profit campaign group that has set out to change the world in small steps. It is a cute alternative to the plastic bag and all of those in search of the bag had a common agenda: To be fashion-forward.
“So what if people buy it because it’s a fashion statement,” says Chris Arnold, creative partner at ethical marketing company Feel. “If the person who uses the bag is shallow and driven by fashion, it still helps the planet because they haven’t used a plastic one.”
Now, you can’t argue with that, can you?
