Reston, Va. – 4 August 2007 - Barclaycard Business today extends its long-standing partnership with Transaction Network Services, Inc. (NYSE: TNS) following more than nine successful years together. TNS will continue to ensure that Barclaycard Business offers fast, reliable and secure payment transactions to its customers for another four years. Thanks to a unique and comprehensive mix of products and services, TNS manages billions of transactions each year for Barclaycard Business, ensuring efficient authorisation and timely settlement across TNS’ secure private network.
Barclaycard Business is the UK's leading issuer of commercial cards with over 152,000 corporate customers, and provides card processing services for over a third of the UK’s retailers. TNS provides a range of services, including routing point of sale transactions from Barclaycard Business customers over ISDN or PSTN, DSL, host to host, leased line connectivity for larger customers, end of day settlement and polling files from Barclaycard Business’ terminal estate.
TNS has kept transaction times to a minimum for Barclaycard Business and its customers - despite a rise in transaction packet size since the introduction of Chip and PIN - by employing the latest networking technology to help streamline transactions and improve operational efficiency.
Robert Moss, Chief Operating Officer, Barclaycard Business, comments, “TNS provides us with the support and flexibility we demand in the payments industry. The TNS team is proactive and professional and its offering has grown to suit our needs, supporting new and emerging technologies in a fast-changing market place. TNS is a vital part of our IT infrastructure and this renewed contract reflects this partnership approach.”
Mark Collins, managing director, Transaction Network Services UK and Ireland, explains, “We are delighted to be securing another four years with Barclaycard Business, supporting them in becoming the most admired card and lending business in the world. They look after over a third of Britain's retailers and are expanding their services to international customers and we are excited to be a part of this. TNS’ recent acquisitions and operations around the world mean we have many more options to bring to the table for Barclaycard Business and their customers both nationally and globally.”
