SSIMED Golf Tournament Raises $15,000 to Benefit CCMC with Help from Miss Connecticut, Lauren Betancourt

Windsor, CT: Despite the thunderstorms and tornado warnings on July 19th 2007, SSIMED’s Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $15,000 to benefit Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC). Miss Connecticut, Lauren Betancourt, joined the SSIMED staff this year in greeting golfers and taking pictures.

"CCMC is so pleased to have the support of our friends at SSIMED. The employees work countless hours throughout the year to create this special day - and their clients and friends endured the weather, even a tornado warning, to participate. This truly shows the level of dedication the SSIMED family has to the children of Connecticut, and for that we are grateful." said Robin Vidito, Director of Public Relations at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

With the support of sixteen sponsors and numerous advertisers and donors, this year’s tournament will be remembered for years to come. 124 golfers came out to play at Gillette Ridge Country Club in Bloomfield. The recently crowned Miss Connecticut, Lauren Betancourt greeted golfers as they checked in for the tournament and helped sell raffle tickets. Lauren also traveled around the course to talk with, and take pictures with the golfers.

The winners for the best round were Craig Niehaus, Jim Haefs, Jeff Niehaus, and Gary Baron with 14 under par. The best mixed round went to Karen Binkhorst, Gordon Binkhorst, David Ellovich and Lisa Ellovich.
