With the addition of embedded iTunes server software, MicroNet provides a turnkey SMB NAS solution that allows all Windows and Macintosh network users to easily access and view digital content, including product and company training content, podcasts and other digital media. MicroNet’s new PlatinumNAS Plus leverages the power of a highly efficient Intel IOP RISC network processor optimized for network file services and four independent SATA drive channels to deliver up to a 400 percent improvement in file serving performance compared to competitive SMB NAS products. The zero downtime design is based on four fully hot-swappable SATA disk drives with automatic RAID set rebuild and background RAID creation, ensuring that critical data is always available even in the event of a drive failure. The advanced RAID controller in the Platinum NAS Plus supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and JBOD across two Gigabit Ethernet connections with support for multiple subnets. The PlatinumNAS Plus provides the most robust storage services of any SMB NAS device, including complete operating system independence with support for Windows — including Vista, Linux and Mac OS X via the TCP/IP, SMB/CIFS, UPNP, FTP and WebDisk protocols. In addition, the PlatinumNAS Plus features native support for Active Directory service, allowing existing network permissions to be immediately applied to the NAS RAID storage.

The unmatched performance of the PlatinumNAS Plus is complemented with unprecedented versatility, including dual USB 2.0 expansion slots, enabling fast and easy capacity scalability with the addition of external USB-based storage such as MicroNet’s Platinum, MegaDisk™ or Fantom™ Drives products. MicroNet’s newest NAS solution also includes an unattended download manager with scheduler, enabling users to run bandwidth-intensive downloads, including FTP, HTTP and Bit Torrent files, during off-peak hours so as not to interfere with normal business operations.
